We cannot believe that our first incorporated year has flown by so quickly. Here are year-end priorities at Women in Solar Energy (WISE):

1. Programming & Volunteer Committees
We are building a robust member-run committee structure to develop our programming. We ask for volunteers to commit a minimum of 4 hours per month to WISE, hold monthly calls, and develop and execute on business plans related to their specific program.

In the meantime, here are a few other committees in formation that are seeking volunteers and prescribed duties.

Workforce development - Create strategic partnerships with other organizations committed to diversifying the solar workforce; maintaining the jobs board and developing creative business ideas related to its promotion.
SheSpeaks Solar - Maintain bios of WISE members on website and share bios with conference organizations to expand speaking opportunities for women at conferences.
Events - Form partnerships with conference organizers, encourage and support women in their efforts to host formal or informal gatherings.
Member services - Ensure an overall pleasant membership experience -- and make sure members are getting the biggest bang for their buck with a WISE membership.

E-mail sara@solwomen.org to get involved, and please include how many hours you can commit to WISE, your program of choice, the skills you can add to the program, and some creative ideas that you have to get these programs going.

Please stay tuned to our website as additional volunteer opportunities open up. In the meantime, check out the profile of our mentorship committee below.

2. Fundraising
We are pleased to announce that corporate sponsorships have pushed us to 60% of our year-one funding goal, and we are making another big push. Help us reach our $100,000 goal by asking your company to make a tax-deductible donation to advance women in the solar industry. Visit our website to learn more about sponsorships, and contact Kristen Nicole today

3. Back to basics
As we wrap up the year, we are focused on revisiting our business plan and budget. What would you like to see from Women in Solar Energy? Respond to our member survey to provide feedback to help shape our organization.

Thank you for your interest and support of Women in Solar Energy, and we look forward to working with you - and for you - in 2015.

Cheers,
Kristen, Meghan, Kacie, & Sara
